Outsourcing Google Ads

Outsourcing Google Ads
Google ads is a very complex marketing platform that can work wonders for a business, but not fully understanding how to manage the platform to drive revenue, will severely limit its impact.

Outsource Google Ads

Google Ads (formerly Adwords), can drive significant revenue for your business. However, the effectiveness of the platform is 100% dependent on how experienced the marketer is that is managing Google Ads.    Google ads is a very complex marketing platform that can work wonders for a business, but not fully understanding how to manage the platform to drive revenue, will severely limit its impact.  The difference between having an experienced marketer or agency managing Google Ads or not will be the difference between incurring sizable business expenses or investing in revenue growth.

Should I Outsource?

A helpful starting point is to ask yourself questions. If you answer no to some of these questions, you should consider outsourcing your Google Ads management.    Is the person currently responsible for advertising Google ads:
  • Routinely certified on Google Ads?
  • Come with significant experience managing Google Ads?
  • Have a solid understanding of measurement and have the site tagged to trigger Google conversion events for each meaningful business event (lead, calls, or purchases).
  • Consistently testing different campaigns or messaging?
  • Have a strategy to drive year-over-year growth?
  • Reviewing search query reports to add negative keywords?
  • Applying first-party data into the marketing platform (i.e. email lists, remarketing website visitors)?
  • Understand how to derive valuable audience insights from Google Ads and Google Analytics.
If you answered no to a few of these questions, you should strongly consider outsourcing your Google Ads management.

Benefits of Outsourcing?

  • First and foremost, if you hire a reputable Google ads agency, you will experience a strong uptick in performance. This alone will likely pay for any additional investment required to hire an agency.
    • It’s not uncommon that the agency will pay for itself multiple times over, just based on the boost in performance.
  • You won’t have to hire talent to bring in-house. Bringing on a new employee is expensive, once you add up salary, healthcare, benefits, vacation, taxes, etc.
  • The agency will have experience with other similar clients, which can add to the marketing strategy.
  • You’ll be aware of future betas and opportunities available on Google Ads.
  • You’ll be aware of opportunities outside of Google Ads. A seasoned marketer or agency will provide recommendations outside of Google Ads.  For example, every advertiser on Google Ads should strongly consider migrating their top-performing search campaigns to Microsoft. Migrating to Microsoft will expand to other search engines like (Bing, duckduckgo, Yahoo!, AOL, etc.).
  • For any eCommerce marketer, you can rest assured that you will have an optimized product feed, so your products can show on Google when users are searching for products you sell.
  • You’ll be able to take advantage of the synergies between search ads and SEO.

Common Questions When Outsourcing to an Agency

  • How much does hiring an advertising agency cost?
      • An advertising agency’s cost will vary significantly. Generally speaking, it’s a monthly retainer that’s a set price, or a percentage of ad spend, whichever is greater.
      • Important to never go with the cheapest option. You will get what you pay for, a low price generally means less experience, less hands-on management, and less strategic thinking.
    • Will the agency manage the program 100%, from writing copy to creating ads, etc?
      • We can’t speak on behalf of other agencies, but Rise Marketing Group manages 100% of the program from building out campaigns, optimizing, building reporting dashboards, writing copy, implementing tracking, and designing ads.
  • Will I still retain ownership of the Google ads account?
      • This varies by agency, but at Rise Marketing Group, every client will always retain ownership of their Google Ads account. This way if you need to bring management in-house, you will retain ownership of the Google Ads account and not have to start from scratch.
  • How often will I meet with the team?
    • This is dependent on the size of the Google Ads account. If it’s a large account with lots of moving parts, it will be at least once per week. If it’s a smaller ad account, it will be bi-weekly or monthly.
  • What are the terms
    • At Rise, any client can stop the partnership at any time. We don’t believe in lengthy terms or contractual agreements to keep the partnership in place. As long as we’re providing solid value, our clients will retain our management.
    • Outside of Rise, most agencies have some type of minimum commitment.
